He is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, the American Obesity Association, the North American Association for the Study of Obesity, and the American College of Physicians. He is also a frequent lecturer to medical professionals on issues related to obesity and medicine. Dr. Lopez also has a deep concern for patients dealing with weight problems, since he has also suffered from obesity in the past.
